SCL has been very fortunate to recruit dozens of pre-dental students from UMKC to donate their time to the volunteer program. Katie Fay is one of them. A Kansas City native, Katie came to us in May of 2015. Her weekly volunteer time has played an essential role in supporting our staff in many projects and for that, we are very grateful!
“I’m from Kansas City, but I also went to school in Chicago for three years. I have a psychology degree from KU and am working on a chemistry degree now at UMKC. After I graduate, I hope to attend UMKC School of Dentistry and possibly become a Periodontist. In my free time, I enjoy painting, drawing, singing, reading and spending time with family, friends, boyfriend and my bunny, Winifred, “ shares Katie.
“I was looking for service work related to the dental field and found SCL online. I have really enjoyed being a part of the SCL team; everyone is so welcoming. By supporting the SCL staff, you are able to impact a child’s life by giving them a chance to have a healthier smile and dental treatment they deserve. It is nice to be a part of something that truly helps people. Volunteering with SCL is time spent wisely!”
